- A deep v neckline and volume at the hips create the perfect hourglass
- Designers showed peplums, panniers and crinolines amuck which have a va va voom shape built in to the garment. Just think of Dior's New Look, you get the picture.
- Any fitted dress that has details that draw the eye inward will create the illusion of shape. Pairing the look with a belt will reinforce the image of a curvy figure.
- Blouses
- Layering longer pieces under shorter ones will create a waist.
- Trapeze style tops have straps close to the neckline which makes the shoulders appear wider and the unstructured shape of the bodice will disguise the linear torso.
- Open necklines such as a boat neck will create the illusion of wider upper torso
- Blouses with a peplum waist are the newest silhouette. This style should be known as the instant hourglass figure because it creates curves you never knew you had (because you don't, really).
- Pants
- Jodhpur
- Skinny pants will hug your thighs and show off your hips. Lucky you!! Tubular girls don't have to worry about hiding their hips in skinny pants.
- Menswear inspired pants (don't go too wide legged though, otherwise you'll look overwhelmed)
- Skirts
- Pencil skirts will hug your hips and taper in towards the knee creating the illusion of curves!
- A-line skirts will simply mask your linear shape.
- Skirts also come with a peplum waist which as you know works great for your body type. Just be sure you don't wear a peplum top with a peplum skirt at the same time!!
